Wednesday, April 10, noon: How do YOU think we should spend five BILLION dollars for climate and housing justice?
Did you know that New York has five BILLION dollars to spend on building energy efficiency and electrification over the next five years? Did you know we can give feedback on how this giant pot of money should be spent? Join us to hear from some of our favorite advocates for a Teach-In on Wednesday, April 10th, at noon to learn all about the New Efficiency: New York (NENY) proceeding. We need your crucial feedback on the program by the April 15 deadline.
April 11, 7 pm: Stop Utilities From Using Your Money to Lobby Against You
Utilities in New York are private corporations with investors and bottom line$. So when it comes to all the hard work we do to pass climate legislation and push for economic relief, they head straight to Albany to undo all the hard work we have done to ensure we meet our climate justice goals. But we can stop them from using OUR MONEY for lobbying, campaign donations, and other political tactics. It’s time to stop utilities from playing with house money to bankroll their shady campaigns to raise our rates and block cheaper, renewable, public power.
April 12-14: Sane Energy will speak at the New Directions in Environmental Law Conference

Join a petitioning event with us!
In 2022, National Grid hit New York City and Long Island residents with a shocking utility rate surge to fuel their fracked gas system expansion. But the nightmare didn't end there. In 2024, the company is back at it, demanding even MORE money from customers for yet another round of investment in their fracked gas infrastructure. Brace yourselves—this means another staggering rate increase, set to hike everyone's bills by an average of $30 a month. We cannot let this relentless assault on our wallets and environment continue unchecked!
Sign up to volunteer now, and next week, you will be contacted to join a squad to collect petition signatures for delivery to Governor Hochul in Albany next month. Together, we CAN fight this abusive rate hike.
Do you live in The Bronx or Brooklyn?
The Bronx and Brooklyn Energy Hub is a team of trusted local groups surveying residents to learn about their knowledge, interests, and experiences related to clean energy.
Your responses will help connect more New Yorkers to clean energy jobs and low-cost home energy upgrades! The survey will only take 10 minutes, and you will be entered to win a $100 gift card!
